By the year 2001 Stoneybatter CTC had become the first centre in the country to have learners achieve Major Awards in both the National Foundation Certificate and the National Vocational Certificate Level 1. With an emphasis on personal development the centre also became the first CTC to achieve the Gold Standard in Youth Health Promotion in 2007. In 2016 the centre became the Overall National Winner in the Irish Cancer Society’s XHale Community Action Project. Stoneybatter CTC now offers Major Awards at Level 3, 4 and 5 in Retail Skill, Information Technology, General Learning and Catering Support.

Case Study – John Kavanagh

In 2014 Stoneybatter CTC got a once in lifetime opportunity to send someone to Patrick Guilbaud’s, the only two star Michelin Restaurant in Ireland for two weeks work placement.

John worked so hard in the restaurant that Patrick Guilbaud personally presented him with a signed copy of the restaurants famed cookbook. John was subsequently placed in the Gibson Hotel in Dublin’s Docklands where he worked for some months before he and the head chef were headhunted for a 4 Star hotel in Co Galway.
