Galway CTC was established in the 1988 to train early school leavers. The training centre offers two year programmes in Horticulture, Mechanics, Catering and Life skills Development and

Our learners have progressed to: NUI Galway, VTOS, GMIT, Galway Community College Apprenticeship programme at the GRETB and even to Cambridge University to complete postgraduate studies. The applied nature of our programmes has helped learners gain employment in prestigious hotels and restaurants in Galway City and County while others have progressed to self-employment as beauticians and employment as legal and medical secretaries.

In 2006, Mechanics learners restored a Classic Triumph TR6 for the Western Veteran and Vintage Motor Club in Galway which was raffled for Charity.

The car was in poor condition, but through the skills and perseverance of the Mechanics instructor and his learners the Triumph was restored to excellent condition.

The car was raffled which raised funds for the following charities: Mozambique Project e7,000, Ábalta (School Project) e5,000, Tuam Cancer Care e500, Share A Dream e500, Tsunami Appeal e1,000 and the Red Cross e1,000.

The Teen Parent learners produced a pregnancy survival guide in 2016 under the direction of their instructor which was launched at our Certification day on Thursday 19 January 2017.

The guide provided a very honest account of the pregnancy journey and includes very practical advice. Learners write is a very honest way about their journey and it has been circulated to hospitals, the  GRETB and community based outlets.
